Dancing At Wedding

Dancing At Your Wedding

At the reception, the first dance is by the newlyweds to their favorite romantic song whether it is a slow waltz, a classical piece or a popular current hit song. Other traditional dances at the reception are the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance.

More than likely, your first dance is going to be caught on video since virtually every wedding guest will have their phone out at the reception. We highly suggest hiring a professional videographer to capture this significant moment in time but even if you do not, you will want to be ready to be tagged by your friends on social media.

Knowing their first dance will be well documented, couples may want to give a polished and graceful performance. Dance lessons can help prepare for what may be the performance of their lifetimes.

  • Start early. Dance lessons should start four to six months before the wedding, especially if you are a newcomer to dancing.
  • Haven’t picked your song yet? No worries. Your dance instructor can help you find the perfect song.
  • Be committed. Plan to have a lesson at least once a week.
  • Be patient! Learning to dance can be stressful but it can also be a lot of fun and a great date night activity.
