Texas Weddings’ Fast Five asks local wedding professionals the same five questions to help you get to know some of the people behind the companies. Today’s Fast Five comes from Beth Dale of The OASIS on Lake Travis.
- What services do you provide?
We are a full-service event and wedding venue.
- What inspired you to start this company?
The owner of The OASIS, Beau Theriot, opened the restaurant 37 years ago as a small tree house on the side of a hill overlooking Lake Travis. Since then, The OASIS has expanded and is the largest restaurant in Texas and has 5 different event spaces that can host anywhere from 25 to 600 guests. The entire building is filled with unique artwork and furniture from all over the world. In one of our most popular spaces for weddings, the Top of the Oasis Room, Beau has imported a set of beautifully detailed wooden doors from India that are over 500 years old!
- What sets your company apart from similar ones in the same field?
Not only are we known as “The Sunset Capital of Texas,” with amazing views of Lake Travis, but we are also a full-service venue. Our guests can literally walk in and not lift a finger and we will take care of everything for them. They can sit back and enjoy a memorable and exciting event and take all the credit for it!
- What is your favorite part of your workweek and why?
As a wedding coordinator, I enjoy working with couples to plan one special day in their lives that they may have been dreaming about for years. My favorite part of the wedding is the few seconds before we open the doors for the bride to walk down the aisle. There is an incredible moment after making sure her dress, veil, and entire look are perfect when she takes a deep breath with anticipation and excitement before she sees her partner’s face and all of her friends and family that have come to witness their union together.
- What is one favorite client story and why?
I worked with a bride who wanted to have a surprise wedding for her fiancé. I was a little hesitant at first but she assured me that her future wife LOVED surprises and would prefer this over feeling the pressure to make so many decisions about their special day. I spent months planning with the one bride without ever meeting the other. On the day of the wedding when they both walked into the room and saw the ceremony space and room set up, along with their friends and family who were in on the surprise, the look on both of their faces was priceless and amazing. It was a perfect and beautiful celebration and they both could not have been happier!
