Something you need to know about me is that I LOVE weddings. And I have always loved weddings. Heck, I’m that girl who has dreamed about and basically had my wedding planned before I even learned to tie my shoes. My Barbie dolls would get married over and over again, and I was their wedding planner, coordinator, decorator, and the officiant (and barbies can be pretty particular about their weddings, but I still loved it).

Me as a kid, probably wanting to go play with my barbies

Proposal #1

So of course, when my brother announced his engagement to his girl who was literally made for him, I freaked out with excitement. I jumped around in circles for waaayy longer than I am proud to admit. For the sake of this series I will name this brother “Mustache Brother” if you saw him with his mustache and all its glory you would understand. The mustache brother had a few serious girlfriends, and all of them were great in their own way, but none of them were quite right. Then came along the PERFECT girl for him, and we all knew immediately after meeting her that she was the one. Mustache brother even told us that this was the girl he was going to marry, and we agreed full heartedly. So safe to say my reaction to them pulling us all out of the wedding drought was justified.

Mustache brother’s engagement ring pick!

And so, the wedding planning began! They set their wedding for the beginning of May 2027, and I got asked to be a bridesmaid (EEEKK!!). Then came the engagement party, dress shopping (she looks like a literal princess), and planning a bachelorette trip to Tennessee! She was on top of wedding planning, she had all the vendors booked, and everything set in order only a couple months after getting engaged so they could relax and count down until their special day. Well, mustache brother really did get the ball rolling, because shortly thereafter, my sister’s boyfriend proposed!

Proposal #2

This sister will be referred to as “blonde sister” (I know, I’m so creative). My mom talks about when blonde sister was two or three, she would say she wanted to get married and have lots and lots of puppies. Blonde sister had been searching for the right person for her, and it seemed nobody fit the bill (I think the puppy part is what got them), until her man came along and swept her off her feet. Amongst some major health complications, and life changes, he stuck with her through it all, and loved her through it. He proposed, and we were all so excited! Double the weddings, double the fun, right? They set the wedding date for late February 2027, and the planning for a classy/rustic style wedding began. They found a venue, the perfect dress, and it all started to come together. We have been teasing this boy about not proposing for so long, so this is a big deal. And low and behold, I get a text from her boyfriend one afternoon with the mock ups of a custom engagement ring and wedding band set. And your girl freaked out. He devises a immaculate plan to propose in the hill country, after a golden hour helicopter ride to the spot. This is when farm sister gets suspicious, and starts bombarding me with questions. Asking if he has contacted me, if he is going to propose soon…So. Many. Questions. And I handled it like an absolute champ.
