Learn the art of the hand-tied bouquet, incorporating beautiful and seasonal marigolds. Chelsea will share the tips and tricks for stability, style, and design she has obtained from years of experience creating beautiful displays. Bouquets will incorporate marigolds so they can be used for Día de los Muertos or a seasonal display. Registrants should bring a vase with them for the safe transport of their complete bouquet. Space is limited.

San Antonio Botanical Garden’s popular Summer Nights event return with a Frida Kahlo twist! The Botanical Garden invites you to get outside this summer and enjoy extended Thursday night hours at its 38-acre urban oasis. Beginning May 13 from 6 – 9 p.m., Noches de Frida will feature docent guided and self-guided tours of the new Frida Kahlo Oasis exhibition as well as beautiful bloom displays throughout the rest of the Botanical Garden. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, including cash bars and specially prepared picnic baskets, and performances by local DJ’s. Guests are welcomed to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Known for its original dance theater productions, the Guadalupe Dance Company and Academy will treat audiences to a mystical journey through the dance and music of Mexico and Spain. Dearly departed characters follow the marigolds to the land of the living where they have the chance to visit their loved ones, dance and celebrate the beauty and joy of life. Join us as we honor this cultural tradition with a special Día de los Muertos celebration. This performance is part of the Botanical Garden’s Noches de Frida, extended Thursday night hours at its 38-acre urban oasis. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Join the Botanical Garden for this DIY class inspired by Frida Kahlo Oasis. Participants will learn about the history of marigolds and tequila – a distilled spirit made from the agave plant – and partake in crafting their own bottle of marigold tequila. Cocktail Scavenger Hunt is back with a tribute to Frida Kahlo’s life. Venture into the Botanical Garden to find edible gems that will be incorporated in this botanical menu. Then hurry back to the kitchen to enjoy a day of the dead-inspired tasting menu: pozole rojo, chicken mole tamales, pan de los muertos, calabaza en tacha, and blood orange marigold margarita.
