Locations For Intimate Weddings

Intimate weddings have their own special charm. There are opportunities to personalize, create unique experiences and special memories.

As special as these intimate weddings are, the right location makes all the difference. No matter how much decor you use, you and your guests will feel overwhelmed in a large ballroom or grand hall.

Take the time to dig a little deeper on the right wedding venue for your wedding. In doing so, you’ll discover hidden gems that feel just right for your size party. We have suggestions on where to look, and considerations for each type of location.

The Great Outdoors: As sweeping and open as the outdoors may be, making it intimate may be simpler than you think. Think of an open hillside with a lovely view, or a forest lined with oaks. You can make it intimate with the right lighting, creating a smaller space within the larger greenery.

Historic Homes & Mansions: Historic homes offer old-world charm and beauty. Even if a mansion is larger, they will often have rooms such as libraries or terraces ideal for crowds 50 or less. These locations often have decor restrictions to preserve the beauty and integrity of the home, so be sure to ask for details upfront.

On The Water: Yachts and boats make a truly unique experience for a wedding reception that only works with intimate weddings. Sailing through the night under the stars, dancing on the deck while the band plays and grazing on a seafood buffet will surely impress your guests. Before embarking, be sure to book a caterer with experience catering on boats as quarters are tight and many of the options will need to be prepared in advance.

Vineyards: The Texas Hill Country is the second-most visited wine region in the United States, and for good reason. From locations a short drive from Austin and San Antonio, to adventures further out, Texas vineyards are a great choice for intimate micro weddings. In addition to the outdoor beauty you’ll capture in your photos, many Texas wineries have dedicated indoor venues for weddings and events.

Beach Bound: Destination beach weddings are great for smaller weddings. You can work with a travel agent to find a location that is best suited not only for your honeymoon, but for your beach wedding as well. Most resorts have wedding packages, simplifying the process. If you’re looking to stay within driving distance, the Texas coast is an ideal location for a beach wedding. Work with nearby hotels for access to their private beach for the ceremony, followed by a terrace reception at sunset.
