Fast Five with McKinney Roughs Nature Park

We sat down with McKinney Roughs Nature Park to learn a little more about their beautiful Lost Pines venue and all the unique activities and options they have for couples getting married or even creating a memorable wedding weekend.

What services do you provide?

Indoor and outdoor ceremony space, bunkhouse accommodations for overnight stays, rentals, commercial kitchen, bride and groom suites for preparations.

What inspired you to start this company?

We are in the business of promoting the great outdoors and sharing it with others! Many couples appreciate the natural beauty of our state and grow their relationship together spending time outside. McKinney Roughs Nature Park has always been an escape for visitors to spend the day doing what they love outside. But now, we wanted the wedding community to know we can offer the same services for anyone’s special day.

What sets your company apart from similar ones in the same field?

We pride ourselves on the natural beauty of our parkland. McKinney Roughs Nature Park has 1,100 acres of pines forests and box canyons creating a picturesque backdrop for your special event. Our staff can offer your guests a custom, guided experience such as a UTV tour, river-rafting trip along the Colorado River, interpretive nature hike or even a zip lining tour, to build unforgettable memories with your friends and family.

What is your favorite part of your work week and why?

Every day is an adventure! Whether we are stringing patio lights for a special event or leading a school group on an exploration, our staff get to interact with all kinds of people who want to experience the Lost Pines region first hand. We help others make long-lasting memories.

What is one favorite client story and why?

One of our clients met his wife while salsa dancing. He started taking dance lessons, and his friend brought him out one evening to meet a group of friends at a Latin dance club. It was there he met his soon-to-be wife because an instant connection was made after a few dances together. They got married at McKinney Roughs Nature Park and had a three-day wedding celebration with lots of dancing, of course. Their love story is one of our favorites because it reminds us of a Hallmark movie!
