Spring 2022 Bridal Fashion Trends

The weather is warming and the official start of Spring is almost here. And there’s nothing quite as charming as a Spring bride!

The season evokes thoughts of macaron-inspired color schemes and garden soiree’s. From budding flowers to Easter vibes, there’s much to be inspired about in Spring. But we are most inspired when looking at the runway. Read more to hear all about our favorite in Spring 2022 bridal fashion.

Next Level Floral

Like so many wedding aspects going next level in 2022, so are floral motifs.

Floral patterns may be a perennial favorite for Spring weddings, but now the patterns are heading beyond bridesmaids dresses and a bridal sash or small mens bowtie.

Gowns are going full floral with blooming head to toe patterns. The way to wear floral in wedding gowns now is delicate, all-over flowers. The patterns are pale and barely-there, but the details are fetching upon a closer look. These gowns look great year-round but look best for Spring brides with garden ceremonies.

For Spring brides who go for this bold floral look but want to stay center stage, choose a monochromatic or ombre look for your bridesmaids. If you want the floral patterns to make a splash, dress your wedding party in complementary floral dresses. The trick is to not match exactly with your bridesmaids, but choose similar color schemes and pattern size.

If the look is too bold for your wedding day tastes, grab a simpler version for your bridesmaid luncheon or shower brunch.

Color and More Color

Colorful wedding dresses are making their way back down bridal runways and into wedding aisles. And we love them especially for Spring.

Spring wedding dresses with color are subtle and chic. We’re not talking an overwhelming color bomb or in your face shades. Today’s bride is wearing color in an understated way. A ribbon or a sash with a sheen of color is just enough.

All-over color can look beautiful in a wedding gown as well. For Spring, keep the shades light and airy. Pale pinks, blues and green are perfect for the Spring bride.

If you are thinking about color in your wedding gown, don’t feel the need to match your color with your wedding decor colors. In fact, it’s best not to. You don’t want to match the table linens!

Bridal Separates

Bridal separates are a bold move for the bold bride. The look always has an edge but can also be feminine, elegant or dramatic. It all depends on the cut and the way the look is accessorized.

The most popular look for bridal separates this year is a short, cropped top paired alongside a full skirt. We’re not talking about exposing huge swathes of skin. Keep the look more demure by wearing the skirt high and showing just a sliver of skin. The skirt can be skimming and worn close, but we love a full, voluminous skirt.

A bridal pantsuit is the ultimate chic wedding look for bridal separates. The look can be worn elegant and sophisticated with a fitted blazer, or more casual with pants and a top. This is a great option for brides who love to move freely, or as a second look later on in the wedding reception.

And don’t think a two piece wedding dress is for casual daytime weddings only. The right shape and the right fabric means bridal separates can be polished enough for a high-end evening reception.

For added interest, add yet another layer to your bridal fashion. A bolero, a cape or a long, white duster will take your bridal look to the next level. Your impact will be unique and memorable.

Applique

The applique technique is achieved by layering one fabric over another for an overall unique finished product. The more intricate the layered piece, the more dramatic the final look. Die-cut flowers or lace detailing is especially of-the-moment in wedding gowns for 2022. The style extends beyond wedding gowns to include appliqued wedding trains and bridal veils.

If your chosen wedding gown is on the simpler side, you can always work with a reputable seamstress to kick it up a notch by adding floral or lace trim to the gown. Go for an all-over look by adding additional details to your veil and train.

For the truly daring bride, wear your applique over sheer mesh as in this bold Oscar de la Renta gown. No blushing bride here!
