Our Story Evan and I met in college after both being placed on the same floor of our dormitory. We became fast friends and quickly fell in love. Both civil engineering students, we had a unique opportunity to grow alongside each other as we forged our career paths. Before he set off on adventures as a Civil Engineer Corps officer in the Navy, we built a strong bond that kept us close throughout the long-distance portion of our relationship. When we found out he was to be stationed in Guam, we realized that we couldn’t bear to be apart any longer. We got engaged while he was on leave, and planned our wedding over a 9-month engagement from over 7,000 miles apart! I sped up my degree plan in order to graduate in time for the wedding and join him in Guam after, where we’ve since enjoyed the life together that we’d dreamed of for years. Sometimes we still think back to when this felt an eternity away, back when each day together was filled with worry about an upcoming departure date and teary goodbye at the airport. We thank our lucky stars every day for the new privilege of knowing that we can finally be together forever!
