Our Story
Spencer and I met at my brother Shane’s wedding on Oct. 24, 2019. We had both been eyeing each other across the room at the reception, and after some encouragement from friends, he finally asked me to dance. It was instant chemistry; we ended up chatting and dancing for the rest of the night. A little over a month later, we saw each other again at the annual Tucker Ugly Christmas Sweater Party where, after more talks and laughs, he asked me on our first date! We set it for the day after Christmas. He picked me up in his freshly detailed truck, handed me a single rose as he opened my door, and took me to Dichotomy, which was still decorated for Christmas. We ended up going to the upstairs patio and talking for hours, much longer than we planned, and by the time we realized it, we were hungry and it was dinner time. We extended our date to have dinner at Stone Hearth next door for Indian food, which I had never had and loved! Over the next couple of months, we casually dated until we became “official” on Valentine’s Day of 2020! Spencer is such a romantic! He asked me in early December if he could take me to recreate our very first date from the year before. I thought this would just be a really sweet date... I had no idea how much was in store! We arrived at Dichotomy, went inside and ordered some holiday cocktails and sat down. He was unusually quiet, but I didn’t know why. Then he asked if we could go upstairs to sit on the balcony patio like we did the year before. We walked up there, he opened the door for me, and said something like this: “So Holly, since we’ve been dating, I’ve given you several signs that I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but I want to give you one more. Look down at the parking lot.” I looked down to see both of our families helping hold up these beautiful, bright letters that spelled out MARRY ME? He then got down on his knee and asked me. I said, yes, yes, of course, a million times, yes!
