About Us
The Salt Lick has been serving the Hill Country and Austin area mouthwatering barbeque for generations. Our unique flavor dates back to 1967 when Thurman Roberts and his sons built the legendary BBQ pit, which still stands in our Driftwood Restaurant today. Since then, we have hosted and catered to events both large and small across the country. Incorporate this Austin original into your next special event!
Thurman’s Mansion is located on the Driftwood acreage, overlooking the restaurant. The Mansion boasts panoramic views of the hill country and a portion of our Salt Lick Vineyard. Most couples choose to get married on Thurman’s lawn, have cocktail hour on the veranda overlooking the vines, and recess to the main hall for Family Style Dinner and dancing. Terracotta tiles, wooden ceiling beams, an antique armoire from the Blanco Courthouse, stained glass and stone walls are just a few features of the Mansion. Thurman’s Mansion seats 150 guests comfortably and has an onsite bridal suite and groom’s room.
