Weddings at the Bullock Texas State History Museum are beautiful and timeless. In addition to a variety of event spaces that couples can use for their wedding,
This week, we sat down William Epperson, Head of Events for the Bullock Texas State History Museum. We learned a little more about weddings at the museum, talked event trends and her most important wedding planning tip.
What services do you provide?
Our rentals include an onsite event coordinator that will assist you and your vendors with building access and organization, oversee the event’s set up and break down, and be available throughout the event to ensure the entire process runs smoothly. Please keep in mind that we do not provide full event planning services. The base Museum rental rate does not include exhibit access, catering, equipment rentals, liability insurance, audio and visual services, décor, entertainment, or outside vendors. The Bullock Events team does not provide full service planning, but can provide support and insight throughout the process. Though not required, the Bullock team recommends and encourages working with a professional event planner for weddings and other significant celebrations.
What sets your company apart from similar ones in the same field?
The Bullock Museum stands apart from other local venues with its prime downtown location, sweeping views of the Capitol Mall and Lone Star Plaza, grand interior spaces, and the timeless beauty of the ‘sunset red’ granite used throughout. Most of all, the Bullock Events team prides ourselves on going above and beyond for our clients, and showing them true Texas hospitality.
What is your best planning advice or tip for couples?
Be sure to take a moment on the day of the wedding to step away and just be together with each other. We encourage couples to take advantage of the ‘Sweetheart Table’ that can be set in the Bullock Atrium by our catering partners. They can have a full meal, or just drinks and a snack, before joining the rest of the party. The day flies by so fast, it’s important to take those moments to just be present with one another.
What is your favorite wedding tradition right now and why?
My favorite wedding tradition is the toast and speeches given by the family and close friends of the married couple. Getting to hear the personal stories, memories, and reflections is always an emotional experience and often the highlight of the evening.
Why do you love this company and your job?
I love working Events at the Bullock Museum because things are so different day to day. We are able to work on all types of events, and meet so many wonderful people along the way. Weddings are my favorite, even though they can be the most stressful sometimes. Getting to be a small part of someone’s special day is so meaningful and makes it all worth it.
