Portraits by Candace is a wedding and studio photography brand based in Lampasas, TX, led by me—Candace. My style is candid, colorful, moody, and intimate, and my clients love how comfortable and confident they feel during our laid-back sessions. While I call the Texas Hill Country home, I’m always ready to travel—especially if it means getting outside and exploring!
What sets your company apart from similar ones in the same field?
I work directly with all my couples and I am personally shooting every wedding rather than sending a team of employees out. I also edit all my weddings and personally go through each photo instead of outsourcing. While this means I have exclusive availability, you know that when you book your wedding with me, you’re getting my personal attention and my artistic vision for your unique needs.
What services do you provide?
I own a studio in Lampasas, TX where I shoot most of my bridal boudoir and a bison ranch where I shoot most of my engagement sessions. I also offer drone photography, custom albums, and can get you in touch with one of the videographers I know and trust.
What made you get into the wedding & events industry? How many years have you been in it?
My dad was a wedding DJ, and I always helped him out as soon as I was old enough. I’m very comfortable and in my element at weddings, so when I wanted to pursue a career in the arts, wedding photography was a very obvious path as I was already practicing photojournalism. I did wedding photography in college for extra money and continued to shoot weddings after I earned my bachelor’s degree in art with a focus in photography. I have been photographing weddings for almost 14 years now.
Are you married? Do you have children? Tell us about your family.
My husband, Sam, and I have been together for 13 years and we have two girls, Clara (7) and Amelia (4). We own Bison Cove Ranch in Lometa, TX where we raise plains bison for meat and breeding. We love backpacking and hiking and generally anything outdoors like scuba diving, golfing, gardening, or just chilling at our local winery.
What is your favorite part of your work week and why?
My favorite part of my job is getting to know my couples and their unique vision for their wedding day. All the little details that make the day special and help tell their personal love story is so fun to see. I include engagement shoots in 2 of my 3 wedding packages because getting to spend some time with the couple before the wedding helps me to tell that story in a more authentic way. So my favorite part of my work week is any time I get to spend with couples in person or over the phone to help them plan and get excited with them about their wedding day.
