Ensuring your wedding venue is the vital initial step in your wedding planning process. Begin your quest for the ideal wedding venue by exploring Red Oak Ballroom. We recently visited with the owner of Red Oak Ballroom, Linda Norris, who shared with us how they began in the industry, the services they provide, and the cities they are located in.
What made you get into the wedding & events industry? How many years have you been in it?
Years ago, Norris Centers was managing The Ortiz Center in Corpus Christi, when a bride-to-be approached us about hosting her wedding at that venue. This was around the same time we were relocating our Austin venue to its current location and thought, “What the heck,” we should create a ballroom at the new venue, hence the Red Oak Ballroom, where we have hosted hundreds of social events for over 23 years.
Are you married? Do you have children? Tell us about your family.
Dave Norris and I got married at our Red Oak Ballroom – Houston/CityCentre venue 10+ years ago. I was lucky to have his three grown sons “adopt me,” and they all live and work in the Houston area, and we are blessed with one daughter-in-law.
What services do you provide?
Our clients think of us as being “like a hotel,” but without overnight accommodations. We have variously sized rooms to host a multitude of events from wedding ceremonies and receptions, to corporate holiday parties and meetings. We provide all the amenities from food and beverages to dance floors, and work with a variety of vendors to support these events.
What other cities or locations have you worked weddings in?
We have locations, specifically for hosting weddings in Houston, Katy, San Antonio, and Austin.
What sets your company apart from similar ones in the same field?
Being a “small business,” we remain very flexible in meeting our client’s needs/requests, quickly and effectively.
