Vintage charm, garden-like walkways and glass-enclosed reception space makes The Veranda one of San Antonio’s most desirable wedding venues.
The historic building in Castle Hills offers rich landscaping and architectural beauty. Now, restored and expanded as a wedding venue location, The Veranda has hosted hundreds of memorable weddings on its beautiful grounds.
The original home at The Veranda was built in 1931 as a home for a wealthy Texas oil baron and his wife. In 2013 the space was reimagined by Chef Mike Bomberg, owner of Spice of Life Catering. The classic art deco look was restored inside the home, landscaping enhanced and additional event space was added.
The Estate House, as the original home is now called, now houses the Bridal Suite. In addition, there is room for guest sign-in tables and mingling, and space for a groom-ready area.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at The Veranda
Many couples envision an outdoor wedding ceremony, ensconced in a garden-like setting with beautiful trees. The Veranda has the perfect location for your outdoor wedding ceremony on the South Lawn.
This lovely outdoor event space is home to most wedding ceremonies at The Veranda. In addition to a host of trees and open lawn space, there is a small wooden arbor onsite for use.
In addition, there is plenty of room to add your own ceremony enhancements such as lanterns, a chuppah or floral decor.
The South Lawn is just outside the original building known as the Estate House. There is a small patio that is the perfect entryway for brides or grooms to enter the ceremony with a grand entrance.
Wedding Receptions at The Veranda
The Terrace Fountain and Courtyard
After your ceremony, your guests can flow into the Terrace Fountain and Courtyard. This event space is ideal for your guests to enjoy cocktail hour while you and your loved ones take photos.
The Terrace Fountain and Courtyard is a garden style space with water features, stone walkways and charming landscaping. Guests can mingle and enjoy passed appetizers, champagne or food stations. The Estate House is just steps away and can be added to the cocktail hour for additional indoor event space.
The Pavilion
The Pavilion is the newest addition to The Veranda estate. This stunning event space is ideal for couples who want the comfort of an indoor venue, but love the outdoor look.
As a bonus, retractable glass doors can be opened up when the weather is lovely, or closed for cold and rain. The stained concrete flooring means no need to rent a dance floor. There’s stone detailing surrounding the event space for added visual interest, not to mention great views of the surrounding grounds.
The Cottage
Originally built as an art studio for the oil baron’s wife, the Cottage is a small outpost near The Pavilion. Within easy walking distance of the main event space, the Cottage is an ideal location for a kids room during your wedding or as a quiet reprieve from the event.
