Wedding Photo Ideas: A Garden Wedding

We have another gorgeous style shoot for you! Each of our style shoots are planned down to the smallest detail, to help inspire you in your own wedding planning. For this shoot, we chose burgundy, gold, and other popular fall colors set in a gorgeous garden-style venue. Get out your notebook, we’re going to walk you through every detail!

Just as we did for our Bridgerton Dreams Bridal Portrait shoot, we handpicked every vendor to bring our vision of a garden-style wedding to life. The décor, wedding accessories, wedding gown, and even the invitations were crafted to inspire ideas for your own wedding.

The Wedding Setting

The first vendor you should book is the venue. Why? Because it helps with the rest of the planning; your venue providing the foundation.

Some venues will have in-house services (catering, décor, or planners), and will also provide you with ground rules. What time your sendoff should be, when your DJ needs to stop playing music, and what time your access to the venue begins.

But most importantly, when choosing your venue, take into account the style of wedding you want to have. Because we wanted to depict a garden-style wedding, the choice for us was easy: Thistlewood Manor & Gardens.

The Color Scheme

Choosing your color scheme should also be one of your first steps. Everything comes together from there: The type of florals and centerpieces you want, the color linens for your sweetheart and guest tables, the bridesmaids dress colors, etc.

But the first reflection of your color scheme will be shown in your wedding invitation. We asked Aly Am Paperie Bespoke Invitations to give our style shoot invitation color scheme, and they did not disappoint.

They also created a welcome sign…

…and a custom cocktail menu!

Table Linens & Décor

We decorated the interior staircase of Thistlewood Manor & Gardens with fall greenery to wrap around the burgundy table linen and florals for the sweetheart table. Notice the centerpiece is our fall florals, accented by gold lanterns.

Here is a closer look at the floral centerpiece for the sweetheart table.

And a closer look at the greenery and smaller floral pieces for the staircase.

For the table settings, we chose gold cutlery and a blush napkin to pop against the darker fall colors. We have The Perfect Day to thank for this gorgeous interior look; from the linens, to the florals, to the place settings.

Ceremony Site

For the ceremony site, we stuck with our main burgundy tones and added some darker foliage to give you another – somewhat similar – fall décor option.

In this closeup, you can see the dark brush added into the florals at the foot of the ceremony arch. Notice that other accents were added in: a dark lavender, pale orange, and red carnations.

The guests ceremony chairs we went sans florals, and just included the dark foliage to give you a third fall décor option. Notice that there is some bright green in the front of the darker bits to give the similar pop that a brightly colored flower would provide.

For the bridal bouquet, we wanted to match the ceremony arch. Flower Power Floral Studio provided us these diverse options, from the ceremony site to the bridal bouquet.

The Wedding Dress

To go along with our garden-style wedding shoot, we asked Brides by Elizabeth for a floral-accented dress with pearl accessories.

Here is a closer look at the pearl tiara and jewelry collection. Notice the lace floral front on the wedding gown – these small details can make all the difference in elevating your theme.

The Ring

Simplicity for our wedding ring was key: we didn’t want something too flashy or too small. Addie Grace Boutique met us in the middle and provided a gorgeous circular glass stone ring.

The Groom

Just as a bridesmaids dress would represent the accent colors of your wedding, so would the groom and the groomsmen’s tuxedos. Rex’s Formal Wear provided us the perfect complementary color to our burgundy: Emerald.

We didn’t want to take away too much from the dark color, so we went with a soft beige tie, with a boutonniere that matched the bridal bouquet.

Here’s a closer look at the boutonniere that Flower Power Floral Studio made.

The Planner

Style shoots take almost a whole day to prepare and shoot, so we employed the help of Nina from NRG Events & Wedding Planning, LLC to keep our models looking their best throughout the the day.

But we also included Nina for another reason: wedding planners are essential to having a stress-free wedding day. They can help you from the beginning of your planning to the very end; supervising every detail to ensure nothing is missed.

The Food

When we say that we think of everything for our style shoots, we mean it. Thistlewood Gardens Catering provided their best in-house dishes for this shoot and we can attest – they were a delicious option.

We even got appetizers! We highly recommend the feta spread – Dakota ordered these for her own wedding.

The Dessert

You can’t have the savory without the sweet! Sugar Shaker Bakery designed a delicious, gold-accented wedding cake perfect for our photoshoot.

Here’s a closer look at the floral designs they provided to match our theme.
