What inspired you to start this company?

In 2012, a long-time pet sitting client who was getting married sent a request to Susan, the founder of The Pet Gal. Her request was to have her dogs included in her wedding, walked down the aisle, and in her photos. The wedding was a smashing success. All the guests loved interacting with the dogs, but more importantly, the couple was beyond elated to have their fur family included. We officially launched Wedding Pet Attendant on Valentine’s Day, 2017. It has since grown into a growing business and is now becoming an industry trend, from Hollywood stars to small, intimate ceremonies. We have successfully been a part of over 100 weddings. Each wedding has its unique story, but no matter the story, the best part for us is seeing the couple’s faces light up when they see and interact with their fur family.

What is one favorite client story and why?

I was absolutely captivated by one wedding where the couple, who met while doing rescue work at Austin Pets Alive, incorporated puppies from APA into their special day. What made it even more incredible was that all the puppies were available for adoption, adding a heartwarming and interactive element to the celebration. Guests had the opportunity to interact with and potentially adopt these adorable puppies. It was truly an amazing and unforgettable idea!

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen happen at a wedding?

One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen was a Goldendoodle pulling a young boy down the aisle at a wedding. The pup was initially handed off to an adult, but who later handed him over to their 3-year-old son to walk him down the aisle. The pup was so excited when he saw his dad that he took off down the aisle, dragging the little boy along with him, much to everyone’s amusement.

Our dedicated team is also available to travel to weddings anywhere and has been part of weddings in Oklahoma, as well as throughout Texas and Colorado.
