What inspired you to start this company?
I got incredibly inspired by planning my own wedding! Though I had gone to school to become an educator, I had discovered a surprisingly deep love of both arranging and performing music through my college and teaching experiences, so when it came to my own wedding ceremony I went all out – I rounded up two of my musician friends and I wrote five original arrangements for them to perform as a duet. From picking songs with a personal meaning to notating the music by ear and trying to write the perfect harmonies, I had an absolute blast! It was so rewarding that it was almost bittersweet in the sense that I didn’t want it to end – I wanted to continue to do the same for others. I knew I couldn’t ignore this passion of mine, so with support and encouragement from my loving husband, I started Simply Serenade.
Why do you love this company and your job?
It may be a bit cliche, but it truly doesn’t feel like work. More often than not my clients end up feeling like family, and the hours I spend practicing for an event go by in a blink – how blessed I am to get to spend my time preparing for precious moments by doing something I love! Love & music are nearly synonymous to me, and I am so grateful to get to share both with others.
What is your favorite wedding trend right now and why?
I am loving the trend of taking pop/modern songs and playing them in the classical style – thank you Bridgerton!
What is your favorite part of your work week and why?
My favorite part of my whole process is the song planning portion – I love speaking to couples about their visions and helping them choose music that represents them or has touched their lives in a meaningful way.
