Baked With Love – Mountain Hen Bakery

When something is baked with love, you can tell from the first bite. There is time, care, and creativity crafted in every sweet treat. That’s the foundation that Mountain Hen Bakery prides itself on.

The Academic Journey

All good journeys begin with the study of a craft. Melissa – current owner and operator of Mountain Hen Bakery –  earned her undergraduate degree from Johnson & Wales University, where she studied pastry and baking arts under European chefs.

She spent her career as a pastry chef in notable fine dining establishments throughout America, including The Kiawah Island Club, The Four Seasons in Philadelphia, and The Woodland’s, Relais & Chateaux. Melissa is a Professor of Baking & Pastry Arts at The Culinary Institute of America.

With all of this training, she was finally ready to open her own place.

A 10-Acre Farm Filled with Love

Melissa built a commercial kitchen on the ten-acre farm, where she could create her artisan pastries to be delivered throughout the hill country. Her goal is to source responsibly, using primarily local ingredients, respecting the land, human and animal welfare and supporting like-minded artisans, while giving back to the community.

On site her pristine little farm, she has beautiful free-range hens that support her pastries with their organic eggs. 

The Good Stuff

Not only does Melissa take time and care into sourcing local, fresh ingredients – she takes equal amount of care into the design of the baked goods she is providing.
For every theme, style, and flavor, each baked treat gets the same amount of love and attention as the smallest order.
