San Antonio Wedding Venue Tour: Hidden Gems

We’ve scoured the area to find wedding venues in San Antonio that are the “hidden gems” of the city. Places that are nestled just inside just behind a long road or a grouping of oak trees. Though some wedding venues in San Antonio are historic and easily recognizable, our hidden gems give couples that aha! moment when they pull up into the drive.

Granberry Hills Event Facility

Granberry Hill’s unexpected location brings surprise and delight when couples, and their guests, turn into the event facility from the surrounding suburban area. This is a wedding venue truly designed with San Antonio couples in mind.

We love that couples have two venues to choose from. The Hillside offers an elegant, 5,000 square foot ballroom with a large crystal chandelier, beautiful flooring and comfortable relaxation suites for each fiance. The adjacent ceremony site is a large open-aired pavilion festooned with flowers and sweeping white drapes.

The Gardenside Courtyard gives couples that tented outdoor wedding vibe, while still protecting you and your guests from the elements. The quaint arbor ceremony location is ideal for garden wedding feels, and an alternate covered pavilion ensures a weather backup.

The biggest perk at Granberry Hills? You can utilize your own caterer and bring in your own alcoholic beverages.

Village Venue

For our next hidden gem, we head to New Braunfels, Texas.

Couples are falling for one of the area’s newest wedding venues and for good reason. Situated inside Freiheit Village, the landscape surrounding Village Venue is modern and unique. You’re greeted with a pristine lawn and waving palm trees.

If you envision cocktail tables and lounge furniture with an outdoor breeze, this might be your venue. Village Venue has a large patio adjacent to the ballroom that makes an airy and spacious location for your cocktail hour.

In addition to complimentary parking in the area, couples get all the essentials. Plenty of space to get ready, chairs, tables, set up and clean up.

The ballroom has a modern and chic flair, with high ceilings and large windows giving you light and beautiful views.

The Veranda

Situated in the center of Castle Hills, The Veranda is housed in a historic estate that dates back to the 1920’s.

The mansion has a built-in bar that allows for an easy indoor/outdoor cocktail hour. Guests can mingle among the garden and onto the back porch or inside for a respite from the heat.

Wedding receptions are most often hosted in the all-season pavilion. The unique venue space has large ceilings, retractable walls and plenty of space for dancing.

The Veranda has hidden gems within itself as well! An artist’s cottage, unique tilework, stone walkways, a cozy bridal suite…each turn around the estate is a new delight.

All this plus catering by Spice of Life? We’re in.

The Allen Farmhaus

Our last location takes you just outside New Braunfels, to the charming Allen Farmhaus.

The Allen Farmhaus is the perfect venue for couples looking for a great mix of rustic, vintage and country elegance. Details like the sliding oversized barn doors, hay bales, and historic oak trees make this location a pure delight.

Ceremonies can take place outdoors, or in the quaint chapel. Vintage church pews and antique stained glass windows give you old world charm and style. Receptions take place in the barn, beautiful on its own and easily personalized with additional decor.

With nearby shopping and activities and multiple overnight accommodations for your guests, New Braunfels makes a great wedding weekend location, taking you from the rehearsal dinner to your last goodbyes.
