If you’re looking for a great Texas Hill Country venue in an incredible setting, look no further than Texas Old Town.
We recently spoke with General Manager, Kara Nash to talk wedding trends, what makes Texas Old Town unique, and favorite travel spots!
What sets your company apart from similar ones in the same field?
I think one of the main reasons we stand out from other venues in the area is our all-day rental option, which gives clients and couples 16 hours at their hall. The most common rental time in the area is between 8 and 12 hours, so those extra 4 hours that we can provide are incredibly valuable when you consider how packed a wedding day itinerary can be! That combined with our pricing is hard to beat.
What is your favorite part of your work week and why?
On Mondays, I typically get to set aside some time to look through photo galleries of past weddings, and it’s THE BEST! I love seeing how happy their day was, especially if I personally toured the couple myself. Plus, a lot of our couples book a year to two years in advance, so it’s wonderful to see how all the little details throughout the day came together after so much planning!
What is your best planning advice or tip for couples?
I have now seen over a thousand weddings since starting in the wedding industry, and I can comfortably say nothing EVER goes according to plan. Sometimes, it’s something miniscule – maybe the flowers that you ordered are not quite the right shade or the groomsmen’s ties didn’t come in on time… and sometimes, it’s something that alters the rest of the day that’s completely out of your control. Your best defense is to hire a day-of coordinator. I always notice the weddings that go the smoothest have a coordinator or planner, and it’s something I regret not doing for my own wedding.
What was your favorite vacation ever?
In spring of 2019, my husband and I went to Banff in Alberta, Canada and we LOVED it. The little mountain town was precious and the backdrop was stunning, especially with all the glacial lakes in the area. We got to check out Banff National Park and Lake Louise, as well as Yoho National Park in British Columbia. That whole area is just a feast for the eyes, and I would definitely recommend trying out all the different hiking trails! We want to go back for a summertime trip next year.
What is your favorite wedding trend right now and why?
Right now, I am loving all the boho touches we are seeing. It’s such an easy trend to incorporate into your wedding look and the pictures always turn out so fun! Pampas grass, dried palm leaves, neutral florals, velvet runners, moody 70s-inspired color palettes, plant decor, and the occasional disco ball can make for unforgettable wedding!
