Bold Colors
Pantone announced the 2023 Color of the Year as Viva Magenta. And we think that is the perfect roll-out for what we’ll be seeing in wedding color trends – bold and vivid!
Wedding consultants all over Texas are excited about this trend and publishing color boards to pair with this dynamic color choice. You’ll see Viva Magenta paired with bright oranges, sapphire and rich violet.
You can also go earthy by adding rich browns, taupe or deep greens.
The bold color trend is another indication of the “over the top” aspect we’re seeing in all things weddings.
60’s and 70’s
Bold, bright colors aren’t the only wedding color trend we’re seeing. In addition, everywhere you look the oranges, taupes and rustic reds of a boho-chic wedding.
This color palette began as a dessert-trend style and has evolved into a 60’s and 70’s look that weddings are embracing.
In addition to the color scheme, look for pampas grass, macrame, and lace detailing and velvet bridesmaids dresses on the horizon.

Statement Floral & Houseplants
Statement floral refers to big, floral installations showing up at wedding receptions all over the country.
Think massive floral archways, large floral arrangements hanging from the ceiling or a thick carpet of rose petals for your ceremony aisle.
Inspired by the Bridgerton series, this is the trend that keeps on trending. Your budget may not allow for massive floral on every table, but you can still capitalize on this trend. Consider draping your sweetheart table with overflowing floral arrangements for a simpler look.
Robert’s Flower Shop is a great resource for quality wedding floral. They’ve been taking care of couples since 1948 and can give you many options to achieve the statement floral look, and many others.
Houseplants are starting to appear in wedding decor, so keep embracing the succulent look!
Growing out of the succulent trend (pun intended, we’re sorry!), houseplants are being incorporated in everything from ceremony decor to tablescapes.
H-E-B Blooms is another great choice for your wedding day floral. Whether you’re into trends or something classic, H-E-B Blooms creates looks from modern sophistication to elegant rustic.
Cake Mapping
Cake Mapping is one the coolest trends in wedding cakes that we’ve seen since naked cakes!
This technique projects words, images or videos onto your wedding cake. You can literally write your love story on your cake. Or, put together a special video just for the wedding reception.
Cake Mapping itself is not new, but this cake trend is hot and getting hotter. Still, there are few specialists in the area with the right know-how.
Chris Koval with Project Mapping TX, recommends using a specialized styrofoam wedding cake for your Cake Mapping. Project Mapping TX are experts in cake mapping and other types of image projection for events.
You can use your actual wedding cake, just keep in mind that once the cake is cut – the show is over!
Classic Cocktails
Mocktails and alcohol-alternatives were certainly having a moment in past wedding trends.
Now, things will be different. Blame it on the pandemic, but people are ready to party on and that means booze. And the favorite go-to for weddings will be the classic cocktail.
Cocktails remind us of Gatsby and speakeasies. A little bit dangerous and a whole lot of fun.
In Texas, our favorite classic cocktail is definitely the Margarita. We love that the margarita can be dressed up or down, and works well all year long. And no one brings the Margarita better to the party than Margarita Man! They offer gourmet flavors made with real ingredients & organic flavoring that will please your guests.
Rest assured, having good-quality mocktails available at wedding receptions will never fully go away, but we’re ready to raise our glass with something stronger!
Food Trucks & Nostalgic Late-Night Snacks
Food trucks once ruled the wedding after party scene, but fell out of popularity in recent years.
Now, food trucks are back and no longer just for the late-night. We’re seeing wedding receptions hire multiple trucks for a variety of food options onsite from the cocktail hour on.
Another catering trend is nostalgic late-night snacks.
Having late-night snacks offered at a wedding reception is pretty standard nowadays. For today’s weddings, it’s all about dipping into nostalgia. This means after-school specials such as jumbo cookies and milk, or housemade ice cream sandwiches.
Gender-Neutral Wedding Parties
Feel free to rewrite the rules in when it comes to your wedding posse.
There’s no reason females can’t have a male in their wedding party and vice versa. “Bridesmen” and “groomsmaids” are increasingly popular. Throw out the norms and just choose who you want to be around, and be supportive through the wedding planning process.
Though this concept isn’t brand new, it’s certainly becoming more commonplace.
