5 Questions in 5 Minutes: Central Texas Planner

Planning a wedding starts with hiring a wedding planner. You want to find someone who is passionate, dedicated and really fun to work with. Enter – Central Texas Planner!

This week we sat down with  Jennifer Redente, wedding planner and owner of Central Texas Planner to learn about what inspired her to start her business, what makes her company special and the wedding trends she’s loving!

What services do you provide?

As a coordinator/planner I provide whatever services the bride needs. Bottom line, I help my couples in whatever they wish me to help with.

For the majority of my clients, that includes: Creating the agenda/timeline, leading the rehearsal, setting up decor and coordinating with vendors. I also make sure we stay on time, sending the wedding party down the aisle, and congratulating couple with their drinks once they complete the recessional. I work with vendors to keep things running smoothly and assist with gathering family for photos. In addition, I ensure we get the marriage license signed and make sure the couple eats. Ensuring the reception runs smoothly from Grand Entrance to Sendoff and everything in between is my specialty. Also, I assist with cleaning up and loading up vehicles that will take all items home.

What inspired you to start this company?

I was in the military for 20 years, and while serving, several of my assignments required me to plan events. Many friends and family also asked me to assist in helping plan their weddings because they knew I was very detail oriented, and I realized that not only did I love planning event, I was really good at it too. When I retired, I started my business and have loved every wedding. I appreciate my clients allowing me to be a part of their special day. I don’t care if it a wedding on the same day at the same place two separate years, each wedding is different. I love how couples personalize their special days to make it their own, and I enjoy being a part of that.

What sets your company apart from similar ones in the same field?

I have been told by many venue reps that I do a lot. “You’re always moving,” they say. I don’t like to sit still, so I’m happy to help with whatever is needed – whatever the request. I’ve been on ladders taking decor down from high up in the trees to handing out Whataburger as a second meal to guests. I’ve also run to stores to get supplies there were needed at the last second. I’m going to do whatever my clients need me to do, so they have a memorable and stress-free day.

What is your favorite wedding trend right now and why?

Having unique vendors at the weddings are my favorite trend right now! From cotton candy in lieu of a wedding cake to llamas to cigar rollers, I think it adds a unique touch and people have more fun by throwing in something non-traditional. I also enjoy the wedding shoe game and the money-raising game of who gets cake in their face!

What is your favorite part of your work week and why?

The day of the week when the rehearsals take place! I’m meeting the family and friends for the first time. I also enjoy making the couple laugh during the rehearsals. People are nervous and anxious, and making them laugh puts them at ease.
