Fall 2021 Wedding Fashion Trends

Autumn is upon us and though we may still be waiting for the air to get crisp and breezy, couples planning their 2022 weddings are shopping now for wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses and suits for him or her.

Your wedding is a reflection of who you are as individuals, and as a couple. And the styles you wear at the wedding, and events leading up to the reception, perfectly showcases who you are.

We went through all the current wedding fashion trends for 2021 and picked out the best bets for your fall wedding.

Voluminous Dresses

If you’re looking to add some flair and drama when you make an entrance on your wedding, look no further than to the enormous, vaporous wedding dresses that are here to make a statement.

The skirt is worn wide and sometimes long. Extra volume is achieved with rows of ruffles, layers of feathers, or piles of ruching.

The best voluminous dresses keep the bodice tight and sleek. They look especially perfect with off-the-shoulder sleeves or even fully sleeveless.

Given the dramatic skirting will be taking center stage, keep the rest of your look simple. Sleek updos and dainty silver jewelry is the way to go.

Sleek Curves

On the opposite end of the wedding gown trend is sleek, satiny numbers full of old-school glamour.

These barely-there dresses are for brides that believe less is more, and the understated makes a bigger statement than the obvious. We love that this style is equally befitting to a Sunday brunch wedding as it is for an elaborate evening reception.

You have two perfect jewelry options for this dress style.

On one hand, you can keep the jewelry simple just like the gown. Think pearl drop earrings or a drapey silver bracelet with a single diamond dangle. If you choose simpler jewelry, add some drama with a dark lip or dramatic eyes.

Alternatively, a simple gown can take on jewelry that makes its own entrance. Statement necklaces or chandelier earrings will balance out the easy elegance of your dress.

Dark Blue Suits

Black is starting to seem a little 2019 and the freshest take for menswear wedding fashion is the classic navy blue suit.

Traditional navy blue is the most classic option, but a variety of shades work with fall weddings. Deep ocean blue or a dark grey-blue looks modernized. Avoid light blue shades which will look too spring or summery for your fall wedding.

Grooms and their groomsmen will look stylish in this updated classic. Suites are still being worn cropped and fitted, the final look topped with pocket squares and a great tie.

For the most formal weddings, you can get blue tuxedo suits. The overall look is classic modern and works with many wedding color palettes.

Long & Lean Bridesmaid Dresses

Uniformity is making a comeback in bridesmaids dresses. And the look is trending long and lean.

Bridesmaids dresses have gone through many changes in recent years. Members of the wedding party often choose their own cut of dress that suits their body type. Or sometimes brides will offer a range of complementing colors in one dress style.

Though variations in bridesmaids dresses are still going strong, more and more brides are opting back into one consistent look for their wedding party.

The most popular bridesmaids dresses own the 90’s slip dress look with draping, body-hugging fabrics and delicate spaghetti straps. This style is perfect with brides wearing the sleek, curvy wedding gowns we talked about earlier.

In addition to the slip dress, bridesmaids dresses are also being worn with long, draping folds like Grecian goddesses. The dresses trail the floor and drape off the shoulders for a look that is timeless and alluring.

Wedding Belts

Belts bring an oomph of savvy style to your wedding day look. And we’re not talking about belts with suits…we’re talking belts with wedding gowns.

A belt worn with a dress can either be structured or simple. Belts with buckles gives your dress a nod to androgyny, whereas a delicate fabric belt looks romantic while still being structured.

Adding a belt to your wedding dress adds instant sophistication. It also can add texture to an otherwise unadorned gown. A beaded belt or one done in lace catches the eye and gives interest.

Likewise, a colorful belt gives you a pop of color to your look. Your belt can match your groom’s pocket square and tie, or be done in a complementary color.
